After the good start of the CC2 farm team some days ago it was no doubt that the ASL team would try to catch up with that success. And they did! The Chicklets´ pitching ace Verena „V“ Ponweiser startet the game with a strike and kept going like that for the rest of the game. She collected 2 groundouts and a strike out in the first inning with just one runner on base. The Chicklets hitting in the bottom of the 1st inning also could not get runs over the plate. Inning two showed a single and blooper to 3rd base, before the M-Stars tried to move their runners with two bunts, but were thrown out in a rundown between 3rd and home plate. No damage done and the red squad went back into offense. Vicky Unterrainer started the off with a leadoff double followed with another double by Paula „P“ Leinweber to score her. Speedy youngster Lya Schneider was beating a throw from the M-Stars shortstop to get Natalie Tauchenova to the plate to score Paula on a flyball. With a 2 run lead for the Chicklets in the 3rd the M-Stars offense could not threaten „the mighty V“ who herself started as the leadoff for the Chicklets now: With a double to rightfield and stealing 3rd base, Vicky allowed her to score on a groundout to shortstop. With the lead stretched to 3 runs now the Chicklets played solid defense and 4 batters later they went back in offensive mode again. A dropped flyball to left field allowed Emma „E“ Hanika to reach 2B. Lya Schneider moved her with a bunt before she scored on a line drive up the middle by Natalie. Now it was time for the Mc´s to strike:with a single to centerfield by Brittany McGuire and another single by Louise McGarry the Chicklets got another two runs over the plate. The game was now close to mercy rule so the M-Stars tried to get a run on the scoreboard in the fifth but their aggressive baserunning again ended in a rundown thrown out on home plate by McGuire. The M-Stars started their defensive 5th with an error on 3rd base that allowed Paula to reach first base. On a cracking double to centerfield by Mara Benckendorff again, Paula crossed the plate for the final 7-0 score of game 1.
After having seen a lot of pitches from Carla Langthaler in the first game, the Chicklets were not disappointed to see her throw again in game 2. On their side McGuire stepped in the circle and the game again started with a strike. A dropped 3rd strike allowed the batter to reach 1B. A groundball to shortstop moved her over to 2B and a hit by pitch and another infield error allowed the M-Stars to score three runs before McGuire strikes out the batter for the 3rd out of that inning. Trying to stop a comeback out of nothing for the M-Stars, Mara Benckendorff led off for the Chicklets but her groundball to short was turned into an out. But not with Verena Ponweiser. Her line drive shot to centerfield got her a triple followed by another single to centerfield by McGuire and a single to short by McGarry. The next two batters get hit by pitch and by the end of the inning the game was even by 3. Inning two showed just one single by the M-Stars – not enough to score a run. The Chicklets on their side started with a walk by Lya Schneider, followed by 3 singles to center and left by Natalie, Mara and V and another walk by Brittany before the M-Stars got their first out. Another single by Paula and a dropped ball on Emma gave the Chicklets a five run lead after bottom 2nd. The 3rd started with an defensive error but the Chicklets infield turned away the next three batters. After a flyout by Natalie, Mara hit a deep flyball to left field for a triple to score on a double to right field by V. On a groundball from McGarry, V also scored before the inning was over. In the fourth the bottom of the M-Stars lineup got retired with a groundout and two strike-outs and the Chicklets were now three runs away from another mercy rule win. „P“ started off with a single to center followed by „E“ with a shot to leftfield. Laila Burian (now playing for Lya Schneider) drew a walk. Two groundballs by Natalie and Mara are turned into outs on first base but also got the Chicklets 2 more runs before Verena „V“ Ponweiser ended the game in style: with a single to rightfield
